A life of faith

Maura had only recently married Timothy when he was arrested. The governor tried to persuade her to take part in pagan worship. The received account says she instead declared that she was a Christian and endured punishment. She is commemorated with Timothy as a martyr.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Maura spoke for her own faith when someone else tried to direct her choice. Consider how to state your convictions clearly while respecting another person’s conscience.
