A life of faith

Maximus was a son of Stephen the Blind and Angelina Branković. He became a monk and later served as an archbishop in Wallachia. His received life remembers him reconciling the rulers Radu and Bogdan and preventing a war between them. In later life he returned to Krušedol, where he helped establish the monastery.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

When people disagree, patient mediation can help. Seek common ground without placing yourself between people who may become violent.
