A life of faith

Methodia was born Eirene on the Greek island of Kimolos. After her sailor husband was lost at sea, she entered monastic life at the church of the Mother of God Hodegetria and received the name Methodia. Women came to her seeking spiritual refuge, and her counsel brought comfort to people troubled by the difficulties of life. She died on October 5, 1908.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Methodia made room for people who needed comfort. Consider giving someone time to speak without rushing to answer.
