A life of faith

Metrophanes was a son of Dometius and the brother of Probus. His family left Rome for Byzantium, where his father and brother served as bishops before him. Metrophanes later became bishop of the city. In his old age, Alexander represented him at the Council of Nicaea. He named Alexander as his successor.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
