A life of faith

Misail entered monastic life at Cozia and became a disciple of Daniil. Together they withdrew to the mountain near Turnu, where a small community gathered and a wooden church was built. Their shared official life remembers prayer, learning and monastic work. Daniil later placed Misail in charge of the community. Their commemoration on October 5 honors both teacher and disciple.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Read Misail’s account alongside Daniil’s and consider the responsibilities involved in continuing another person’s work.
