A life of faith

Nazarius was born in Rome to a Christian mother named Perpetua. The received life says he was baptized by Linus and traveled through Italian towns to preach. He cared for Christians who had been wounded or imprisoned during persecution. The account connects him with Gervasius and Protasius and with the younger companion Celsus. Nazarius and Celsus were eventually beheaded.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Nazarius gave attention to people harmed by persecution. Consider how you can offer practical care to someone whose circumstances have made ordinary life difficult.
