A life of faith

Nectarius of Varlaam was a brother of Theophanes and came from the Apsaradon family of Ioannina. The brothers entered monastic life and trained with the elder Sabbas. Their received life connects them with Mount Athos and the foundation at Varlaam in Meteora. They are remembered together as monastic founders.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Consider how a long project can grow through shared responsibility rather than dependence on one person.
