Saint Nestor of Thessalonica

A life of faith

Nestor is remembered with the Great Martyr Demetrius. The received account says he sought Demetrius’s blessing before confronting Lyaeus, a fighter who had killed many Christians. After the encounter, the emperor ordered the deaths of Nestor and Demetrius.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Nestor’s remembrance raises questions about danger and responsibility. Seek counsel before acting in a situation where other people may be harmed.
