A life of faith

Nicander served in the Roman army at Durostorum. Together with Marcian, he openly confessed Christianity during the persecution of Christian soldiers. Both refused demands to abandon Christ, endured imprisonment and were beheaded.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Their joint witness recalls the support people can give one another when convictions are tested.
