A life of faith

Nicanor was born Nicholas in Thessalonica. After his parents died, he distributed his inheritance to poor people and orphans and entered monastic life. He became a priest, received people seeking guidance and pursued a life of prayer. He is remembered in connection with the Monastery of Zavorda.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Nicanor made care for poor people part of a major change in his life. Consider how a new stage of life could create space for generosity.
