A life of faith

Nicholas Khasha was a priest from Damascus who later served the Orthodox community in Mersin. The official diocesan account remembers his restoration of churches, support for schools and visits to poor people. He defended his community during persecution and was imprisoned. The Patriarchate records his martyrdom in Mersin in 1917. He is commemorated with his son Habib, who also became a priest.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Nicholas’s service invites practical care for a community, especially when poverty or disruption makes people feel forgotten.
