Saint Nicodemus of Serbia
Archbishop and translator
Hilandar, Karyes and Peć
Feast day: May 25 (Gregorian); May 12 (Julian)

A life of faith
Nicodemus became a monk on Mount Athos and later abbot of Hilandar. As archbishop of Serbia, he translated the Jerusalem Typikon, helping provide a shared order for worship in monasteries and parishes. He also sought support for the hermitage of Saint Sava at Karyes and helped arrange the return of the exiled Stephen and his family from Constantinople. His work joined learning, pastoral responsibility and care for monastic communities.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Learning becomes useful when others can share it. Help make a reliable resource easier for someone to understand.
