Saint Niketas of Chalcedon
Bishop and confessor
Chalcedon & Palestine
Feast day: May 28

A life of faith
Niketas became bishop of Chalcedon. The calendar describes him using the proceeds of his work to feed hungry people, clothe those in need and receive strangers. He supported widows and orphans. He also defended the veneration of icons and suffered exile before spending his final years in a monastery in Palestine.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Niketas joined public conviction to practical care. Choose one need you can meet directly rather than leaving care as a general intention.
