A life of faith

Ninian is remembered as a British bishop associated with Whithorn in southwestern Scotland and with preaching among the Southern Picts. Bede’s account connects him with a church dedicated to Martin of Tours. Later traditions describe study in Rome, a meeting with Martin and solitary prayer near Whithorn. His memory shaped a place of worship and pilgrimage that drew people from across Scotland.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

A settled place of prayer can support service beyond its walls. Ninian invites attentive teaching and time for quiet reflection.
