A life of faith

Olimpiada, born Bălașa, entered monastic life after widowhood and helped establish Văratec. She first invited the more experienced Nazaria to lead. Her later responsibilities included rebuilding the monastery after destruction and teaching the sisters church singing. Her commemoration joins practical foundations, shared leadership, and the cultivation of worship.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Ask for experienced help when a community needs skills you are still learning. Olimpiada's foundation included inviting another woman to lead.
