A life of faith

Pachomius came from Gledin and became a monk at Neamț. He served as abbot, sought guidance from Demetrius of Rostov and later became bishop of Roman. The calendar remembers his attention to the material needs of the diocese. After leaving the episcopal office, he returned to the hermitage and built the church around which Pocrov developed.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Pachomius invites reflection on joining a desire for quiet prayer with practical responsibility for a community.
