A life of faith

Paisius was the abbot of the Annunciation Monastery at Trnava near Čačak. His received life describes him welcoming monks displaced from Moštanica, including the young deacon Habakkuk and his mother. Paisius also took an active part in organizing the uprising of 1814. After the uprising failed, he was arrested and taken to Belgrade, where he prayed in prison and was executed. The Serbian Church remembers Paisius together with Habakkuk.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Welcoming someone who has been displaced can begin with food, a place to rest or practical information. Offer help through a trusted local organization.
