A life of faith

Paisius came from Janjevo and became metropolitan of Novo Brdo before leading the Patriarchate of Peć from 1614 to 1647. During visits to monasteries, he examined their books, arranged repairs and sometimes took damaged volumes to restore them himself before returning them. He wrote saints’ lives and services and supported the renewal of churches and religious art. His received life presents the preservation of books and communal worship as central parts of his pastoral work.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
