A life of faith

Paramon encountered Christian prisoners in Nicomedia who were being pressured to sacrifice to Poseidon. He spoke publicly against the suffering inflicted on innocent people and continued on his way. The authorities pursued him. The account remembers his arrest, torture and death during the persecution under Decius.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Paramon invites reflection on speaking for people who are being mistreated. What careful, practical action can you take when you witness unfair treatment?
