Saint Paul the Confessor of Constantinople
Archbishop, confessor and martyr
Thessalonica, Constantinople and Armenia
Feast day: November 6

A life of faith
Paul came from Thessalonica and became archbishop of Constantinople during the disputes over Arian teaching. His defense of the Orthodox faith brought removal from office and repeated exile. The account describes a meeting with Athanasius in Rome, a temporary restoration, and a final exile to Cucusus in Armenia, where Paul was killed.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Paul’s repeated displacement invites reflection on steadiness under pressure. What responsibility can you continue to honor when circumstances become difficult?
