A life of faith

Paul lived in Ptolemais in Phoenicia with his sister Juliana during the reign of Emperor Aurelian. During the emperor’s visit, Paul made the sign of the cross and was arrested. Juliana defended her brother and was also taken for punishment. Their life recounts repeated ordeals and the conversion of three soldiers who witnessed their suffering. Paul and Juliana died as martyrs.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
