Saint Peter of Alexandria
Bishop and martyr
Alexandria, Phoenicia and Palestine
Feast day: November 24

A life of faith
Peter led the Church of Alexandria during the persecution under Diocletian. After being driven from his see, he traveled through Phoenicia and Palestine and encouraged Christians through letters and prayer. He was later beheaded during the reign of Maximin.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Peter’s letters invite reflection on how encouragement can reach people even when distance prevents a visit.
