Saint Peter, First Catholicos of Georgia
Catholicos
Kartli, Georgia
Feast day: November 30 / December 13

A life of faith
Peter is remembered as the first Catholicos of Georgia. The Georgian life places his service in the late fifth and early sixth centuries, during the reign of Vakhtang Gorgasali. It describes his arrival with Samuel, consecration in Antioch and work organizing the Church in Kartli. The account also associates him with the dying king and the succession of Dachi.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
