Saint Peter of Lampsacus
Martyr
Lampsacus
Feast day: May 18

A life of faith
Peter was a young Christian arrested at Lampsacus during the persecution under Decius. Brought before the official Optimus, he refused to offer sacrifice to Aphrodite and declared his Christian faith. He was tortured and beheaded.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Peter recalls the cost of keeping a conviction when an authority demands its abandonment.
