Saint Peter Mogila
Metropolitan
Kyiv
Feast day: December 22

A life of faith
Peter entered monastic life at the Kyiv Caves monastery and became its abbot. He restored monastic buildings, continued the printing of worship and teaching books, and helped establish a college that developed into the Kyiv theological academy. He placed his own estates at the service of the school. The calendar remembers his work to strengthen Orthodox education and church life.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
