Saint Philotimia of Râmeț
Venerable Nun and Mother
Bălănești and Râmeț, Romania
Feast day: July 6

A life of faith
Philotimia was baptized Filofteia and raised twelve children with her husband Ioan Manolache. One son became Dometius of Râmeț. After widowhood she entered Râmeț, where her son performed her monastic tonsure. The official life remembers her providing for her children, prayer, gentle counsel and help for people who sought her assistance. Her final years were spent within the monastery’s community. She died in 1989.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
