A life of faith

Platonida served as a deaconess before withdrawing to the region of Nisibis. She organized a community of nuns with a shared rule of work and worship. The calendar describes time set aside on Fridays for services, Scripture and its interpretation.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Platonida’s work invites reflection on how a shared rule can make room for worship, study and practical service.
