A life of faith

Prochorus was among the first deacons appointed in the early Church. He accompanied Peter and later served as bishop of Nicomedia. He also assisted John during exile on Patmos and helped with his writings. He suffered martyrdom while preaching at Antioch.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Prochorus recalls the essential work of assisting another person’s teaching and writing.
