A life of faith

Roman became a companion of Theodosius of Tarnovo and joined the community of Gregory of Sinai at Paroria. The received life remembers him carrying out monastery responsibilities and later traveling with Theodosius to Mount Athos. The two eventually settled near Tarnovo. When Theodosius left for Constantinople, Roman became his successor as abbot. He taught the monks, received visitors seeking counsel and comforted the community during his final illness.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
