A life of faith

Romanus came from Palestine and served as a deacon in the church of Caesarea. During Diocletian’s persecution he was in Antioch, where he preached and urged Christians to remain faithful when their church faced destruction. His public rejection of idolatry brought arrest, torture and death.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Romanus invites reflection on how to support a community under pressure. Choose one concrete act that strengthens another person’s courage and belonging.
