Saint Sabbatius of Antioch
Martyr
Antioch
Feast day: September 19

A life of faith
Sabbatius came to Antioch with Trophimus. They declined to take part in a pagan festival and were arrested. Sabbatius confessed Christianity before the official Heliodorus and died after being tortured. His memory is joined with Trophimus and Dorymedon.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Sabbatius recalls keeping a conviction even when public pressure demands conformity.
