A life of faith

Samonas came from Ganad and is commemorated with Gurias. During the persecution under Diocletian, the two men were accused of discouraging sacrifices to idols. They endured torture and four months of imprisonment marked by hunger and thirst. Samonas was later suspended by one foot and suffered further injuries. The Church remembers him among the martyrs alongside Gurias and the deacon Abibus.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Samonas endured hardship alongside Gurias. Remember someone whose faithful companionship helps you face difficult days.
