A life of faith

Sempronian is named among four skilled Christian marble workers commemorated with their companion Simplicius. The received account places the craftsmen under Diocletian. The group refused to make an image of Asclepius. Their shared commemoration remembers their death after they were enclosed in lead coffins and thrown into the River Sava.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

The craftsmen’s remembrance raises a question about the demands placed on skilled work. Consider how you would explain a limit of conscience clearly and without contempt for other people.
