Saint Serapion the Sindonite
Monk
Egypt and Rome
Feast day: March 21

A life of faith
Serapion lived as an ascetic in Egypt and became known as the Sindonite because of his linen garment. His received life recounts that he gave the garment to a poor man shivering from cold and distributed what he received to people in need. He guided others toward Christianity, traveled to Rome and eventually returned to the desert.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
