Saint Sosipater the Apostle
Apostle and bishop
Achaia, Iconium and Corfu
Feast day: April 28; April 29 (Greek Australian calendar)

A life of faith
Sosipater was a disciple of Paul from Achaia who became bishop of Iconium. With Jason, bishop of Tarsus, he built a church on Corfu in honor of Stephen the Martyr. The governor Querculin imprisoned both men. Their received life remembers their suffering and the conversion of fellow prisoners and of Cherchyra, the governor’s daughter.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Consider how to maintain a faithful partnership when circumstances become difficult. A clear conversation or practical help can strengthen shared work.
