Saint Stephanida the Martyr
Martyr
Damascus
Feast day: November 11

A life of faith
Stephanida was a young married Christian woman who witnessed the torture of Victor. She publicly encouraged him and praised his faith. When questioned, she also confessed Christianity and refused pagan sacrifice. She was killed after being fastened between bent palm trees.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Stephanida’s encouragement of Victor invites a practical word of support for someone facing fear.
