Saint Teotim of Tomis
Bishop
Tomis, Scythia Minor
Feast day: April 20

A life of faith
Teotim studied Scripture and Greek learning before serving as bishop of Tomis. The calendar remembers his gentle and generous dealings with Huns, as well as his theological teaching. He supported John Chrysostom during opposition and wrote dialogues and homilies on the Gospel. His ministry joined learning with personal care across the boundaries of the communities around him.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Teotim’s example invites careful learning and generous treatment of people whose background differs from your own.
