Saint Theodota, Mother of Three Martyrs
Martyr and mother
Cilicia and Bithynia
Feast day: July 29

A life of faith
Theodota taught her children the Christian faith. When the official Leucatius tried to force her into marriage, she refused. She was sent to the governor Nicetius in Bithynia and was killed with her three children. The Romanian calendar remembers her beside the martyrs of July 29.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Theodota recalls teaching faith within a family while resisting coercion.
