A life of faith

Theodulus is named among the ten martyrs of Crete during the persecution under Decius. The calendar places his home at Gortyna. The companions refused the governor’s demand to sacrifice to idols and endured punishment. Their shared account remembers prayer for their persecutors before their execution.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

The ten martyrs’ shared prayer for their persecutors invites you to pray for someone with whom you are in conflict, without excusing harm.
