A life of faith

Thyrsus was a catechumen when he was brought before a governor during persecution. He openly explained his Christian conviction and endured imprisonment and torture. The calendar remembers his baptism in prison and his later refusal to sacrifice to the gods. His life is commemorated with Callinicus.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Thyrsus’s remembrance begins while he is a catechumen. Bring one question about faith to a priest or teacher, and take your next step in learning patiently.
