A life of faith

Timothy was a church reader who taught the people of Penapeon from Christian books. Soon after marrying Maura, he was brought before the governor Arian. He refused to surrender the books used to teach the community and endured torture. The received account remembers the martyrdom of Timothy and his wife together.

The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.

A reflection

Timothy treated the community’s books as something entrusted to his care. Consider how you can preserve and share a source of learning responsibly.
