Saint Trophimus of Antioch
Martyr
Antioch and Synnada
Feast day: September 19

A life of faith
Trophimus came to Antioch with Sabbatius and refused to join a pagan festival. He confessed Christianity before the official Heliodorus and was imprisoned. After Sabbatius’s death, Trophimus was sent to Synnada, where the Christian council member Dorymedon visited him. Trophimus and Dorymedon were later executed together.
The Eastern Orthodox Church remembers saints in prayer and commemoration. Their lives offer examples for Christians learning to live their faith.
A reflection
Trophimus recalls speaking plainly about faith and accepting the support of another person in prison.
